Katie Heck

Katie Heck grew up in Southwest Florida and attended Florida State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminology. Always focused on helping others, Katie worked in Governor Bush’s Office of Citizen Services office for two years before beginning a career in law enforcement with the Punta Gorda Police Department. In just over 11 years, she served as a School Resource Officer, Bike Team Member, road patrol Corporal, and training instructor. She also organized and implemented a department Canine Unit after a 10-year hiatus in the program prior to promoting to Lieutenant over Community Services. In that position, she managed community outreach programs and developed a social media presence for the agency to share information and increase community safety. Katie retired from the Punta Gorda Police Department to take a position at the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office as their Public Information Officer, which included an active role in the Joint Information Center for Charlotte County Emergency Management during two active hurricane seasons. As the daughter of a firefighter, Katie was excited for the opportunity to join the fire service family, bringing her background and experience in safety education and communication to the Lehigh Acres Fire Control and Rescue District.

When not working, Katie spends time with her husband and twin boys. They enjoy family camping trips, fishing, and visiting Disney World. An avid runner, she aims for at least one marathon per year and uses running as a means to fundraise for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. She also serves as a family ambassador for Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, where her boys have received ongoing treatment after their premature birth.
