Are you interested in a career in the Fire and EMS service?

The Lehigh Acres Cadet Program is a youth-oriented program that focuses on the vocational study of a professional firefighting career with Lehigh Acres Fire Control and Rescue District.

The program's mission is to enable Cadets to better understand a firefighting career through an experience that balances classroom and hands-on learning. Each Cadet will learn mental and physical wellness, a sense of self-responsibility, personal growth, leadership, discipline, teamwork, and fire prevention skills.

What do Cadets do? During weekly meetings held year-round, Cadets will learn and experience:

•    CPR and advanced first aid
•    Basic firefighter skills, such as search and rescue techniques and rope rescue
•    Participate in fire department functions and events
•    Participate in ride time, department drills, and training
•    Hands-on and classroom training
•    Cadet Competitions

FAQ:

Is this program just for those who want to be a firefighter?
Not necessarily. The Lehigh Acres Cadet program helps build many different skill sets. Some Cadets will use this to build a foundation from which they will build on to become firefighters or work in emergency medical services. Other cadets will use the skills they gain to explore different career options. Pride, commitment, courage, leadership, teamwork, integrity, and self-discipline are applicable and valuable life skills to develop for many professions.

Who can apply?
The program is open to any male or female between the ages of 14 and 20. Each Cadet must have a 2.5 minimum GPA or be a High School graduate. Those who are physically fit, possess a positive attitude and have a good work ethic will enjoy and excel in this program.
