Donald R. Adams Sr., Fire Chief
Chief Adams has more than three decades of experience in the fire service and is currently the Fire Chief of Lehigh Acres Fire Control and Rescue District in Southwest Florida. Chief Adams had a 25 ½ years career with the Orlando Fire Department, and retired at the rank of District Chief/Paramedic. Chief Adams also served as the Fire Chief of Osceola County Fire Rescue Department and Deputy Chief of Administration with North Port Fire Rescue District.
Chief Adams is a graduate of National-Louis University’s Masters of Education program. He also has a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and has completed his doctorate in Leadership Organization from Argosy University – Sarasota. In addition, Chief Adams is a graduate of the National Fire Academy’s Executive Fire Officer Program where he won two outstanding research awards for Distress Alert Signals from Personal Alert Safety Systems Devices Do Not Trigger Physiological Responses (2001) and Protective Clothing Ensembles Challenge the Balance of Firefighters (2000).
He is a member of the International Association of Fire Chiefs, Florida Fire Chiefs Association, Lee County Fire Chiefs Association and National Fire Protection Association. In addition, Chief Adams is a contributor to the 1997 book Emergency Medical Response to Hazardous Materials Incidents, Chapter 9, and the 1994 video for PULSE/American Heat, Seeing is Believing. Chief Adams has written several articles for trade journals.
William E. Liedtke, Deputy Chief of Support Services

Deputy Chief William E. Liedtke moved to Lehigh Acres in 1964 where he took an interest in the Volunteer fire department at the age of 11 spending his spare time helping clean the only fire truck. While a senior at Alva High School he joined the Lehigh Acres Volunteer Fire Department upon graduating from high school in 1972, he join the US Navy for eight years where upon returning to Lehigh Acres he became active in the Lehigh Acres Fire Department Volunteers again.
In October 1982 he became a full time firefighter with the department. He was promoted to Lieutenant in 1991, Deputy Chief of Operations in 1997 and as the department grew he moved to Deputy Chief of Support Services in 2004.
